I'm a third generation, professional house painter with personal experience dating to 1991 at the age of 13. I initially thought of the idea for a brush grip in the 1990’s. We used a lot of oil based primers and stains on exteriors. Painting with oils in Wisconsin was often done through most of the year back then. I never enjoyed wearing gloves while holding a brush. In fact it often caused pain in my hands. I just couldn’t manipulate or finesse my brushing techniques. Often we would wrap the metal ferrule of brushes with rags or maybe some tape, but that was also very uncomfortable. Fast-forward to 2011-2016, I went back to school and achieved a Bachelor's of Engineering with design emphasis and started using 3D printers. In 2020 the idea for a brush grip came back to mind. This is when I invested in higher-end 3D printers and a flexible, rubber-like material. I was now able to make the perfect brush grip for any size and shape paint brush. The R3D-e-GRIP was born.
